The 42nd Euro CC rally ended on the Sunday morning, and the 100 of us who had booked to go on the prolongation set off at 3 pm for the town of Cecina,

The following day we were all up early and loaded into coaches, to be taken to a wine tasting in a lovely Bodega, with many Reds Whites and Rosa's to try, we had a very good guide who explained in English about the different wines, what to look for taste wise and how to get good value for your money, we were also given dinner there.

After we were taken to a beautiful village high on a hill "Bolgheri" and were taken around by a guide, and later on to "Castagneto Carducci" another lovely hilltop village with 2 beautiful church's many shops and a "Local Products" tasting shop, where you could try many locally produced wines, spirits, sausages, honeys, cakes and many more.

On Tuesday we all drove and parked up in the town of "Rapolano Terme" later we boarded coaches, and were taken to Siena, a really impressive city, we were again met by a guide who took us English around the city and onto the city walls, then down to the city square where every year they hold the world-famous horse race around the square, the jockeys riding bareback. There was so much to see it helped to have a very good guide.

The next day we again boarded coaches and were taken to "Pienza" although it is only the size of a village it is, in fact, a city, because it has a cathedral and an Archbishop! Pienza is built on a high hill and dominates the surrounding countryside and was a great place to explore, finding all the hidden Bars.

On Thursday we drove to "Castelfiorentino" and walked into town to be met by the town mayor for a welcoming speech, then a small concert from a very good local band, who even get a standing ovation from us all, and again we had a guided tour of the town. In the evening we were taken to a restaurant for a superb 8-course meal, some terrific music and lots of dancing, a great end to a great day.

Our final destination for the prolongation was Florence which we drove to on Friday morning, and then we were all bussed into Florence city center at 2 pm, Florence has perhaps the world’s most beautiful cathedral, the exterior is clad in stunning carved white marble so impressive, indeed the whole city centre is simply lovely, so interesting and historic, a fitting end to a great prolongation.

It's true to say the weather could have been better, but the great places we were taken to, were sights that we would not have found, had it not been for the local motorhome club arranging everything so a very big thank you to Camping Club Italia.
